Student Housing • The District Lofts at Green Bear

Sitting on a 1.05 acre site at the intersection of Greensboro Avenue and Paul W. Bryan Drive in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the project is part of Tuscaloosa’s movement to revitalize their urban core and the design elements are contemporary interpretations of the historic architecture of the surrounding neighborhood. Incorporating recessed balconies with architectural elements that are indicative of early turn-of-the-century small town multi-functional buildings, The District Lofts reflects the character of the surrounding historic downtown area. Its façade forms a cohesive building line traditionally associated with downtown Tuscaloosa. Its two-story, walk-up townhomes with traditional stoops create live/work “flex” units that enhance the pedestrian experience bringing the historic walkways to life. Included in its efforts to enrich the community, the project offers 3,500 square feet of commercial space to support growth and opportunity in the local economy.
